Job summary

Benchmark at Roseland located in Roseland, New Jersey, seeks a compassionate Programming/Activity Assistant to organize and implement programs meeting residents’ physical, intellectual, social, and emotional needs. This full-time role supports the Activity Director and helps promote self-esteem in a caring environment.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; knowledge of aging and disability issues.
• Training and knowledge in recreational activities.
• Training and knowledge of Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
• Ability to coordinate multiple tasks, stay organized, and work well under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing a seven-day activity program that is engaging.
• Lead and implement one-on-one, small group and large group activities according to schedule.
• Support and encourage independent activity pursuits for residents.
• Demonstrate understanding of residents' backgrounds, abilities, interests, and cognitive status to tailor activities.
• Encourage participation in programming and communicate changes in residents’ condition to the Activity Director.
• Remain with group during excursions and ensure safety at all times.
