Job summary

Merriam Gardens Healthcare & Rehab is seeking a compassionate Activities Assistant to join our dedicated team. You will plan, implement, and evaluate recreational activities that promote socialization, physical fitness, and mental stimulation for residents.

In this role, you will work with residents, families, and staff to create engaging programs, track participation, and support a warm, welcoming environment. The position requires flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift, bend, and move objects up to 25 pounds.
• Compassionate and patient attitude with a focus on providing excellent customer service.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and implement activities and events for residents.
• Develop positive relationships with residents, families, and staff.
• Coordinate activities to stimulate cognitive and physical abilities.
• Collaborate with the therapy team on individualized activity plans.
• Monitor and evaluate activities and suggest improvements.
• Maintain records of resident participation and schedules.
• Assist with keeping the activity department clean and organized.
