Job summary

The Palmettos of Parklane in Columbia, SC is seeking an Activity Assistant to facilitate resident activity programs and coordinate events under the supervision of the Activity Director. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, be able to read, write and speak English, and be willing to work weekends or evenings.

Qualifications

• High School degree or GED required.
• Preferred: qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or activities professional.
• Must read, write and speak English.
• Ability to work with elderly residents.
• Self-motivated, creative and positive personality.
• Willingness to learn new ideas and skills.
• Ability to supervise others in a firm, fair, and consistent manner.
• Possess patience and good organization skills.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision of the Activity Director, perform resident activity assessments to match preferences.
• Maintain the activity program daily, 7 days a week.
• Plan activities and coordinate supplies.
• Keep records of all program activities and attendance.
• Conduct inventory and manage activity supplies/equipment.
• Carry out programming, remind residents, lead activities, set up/break down.
• Promote activities led by volunteers and residents.
• Assist with special food and party functions and holidays.
