Job summary

Lorien Health Services' Lorien Columbia location in Maryland seeks a creative Activities Assistant to plan, lead, and participate in engaging recreational, social, and wellness programs for residents.

You will promote resident dignity and independence through meaningful engagement, support special events, coordinate activities with staff, and ensure a warm, inclusive environment that enhances quality of life.

Qualifications

• Full time availability.
• Schedule: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
• Three shifts per month: 11:00 am - 7:30 pm.
• Ability to safely lift, push, and pull up to 25–50 pounds with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist with daily activities in accordance with the community activity calendar.
• Engage residents in games, crafts, discussion groups, exercise programs, themed events, and entertainment programs.
• Encourage resident participation while fostering a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
• Assist with decorating and setting up for special events, holiday celebrations, and community programs.
• Provide one-on-one interaction and support to residents who may be unable to participate in group activities.
• Transport or escort residents to and from activities as needed.
• Maintain activity supplies, equipment, and program areas.
• Observe and report changes in resident participation, mood, or behavior to appropriate team members.
• Support resident dignity, independence, and quality of life through meaningful engagement.
• Follow all safety, infection control, and facility policies and procedures.
