Job summary

The Hartford is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Assistant to provide comprehensive litigation support in a fast-paced, paperless environment, supporting our Brea, California office remotely while remaining part of a collaborative team.

You will manage calendars, assist with trial prep, handle electronic files and invoices, and interact diplomatically with clients and counsel. Five years of legal assistant experience in insurance defense and tort exposure are highly preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant in a paperless insurance defense environment.
• Tort experience in personal injury work is required.
• Trial preparation experience is a plus.
• Experience in a high-volume litigation environment with document production, discovery, and calendar management.
• Strong knowledge of California Court systems and ability to search court rules.
• Proficiency with case management software and MS Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes software to timely prepare, e-file and serve documents for California and federal courts.
• Keeps attorney calendars current including depositions and court events.
• Assists attorneys in trial preparation and related tasks.
• Reviews electronic mail daily and maintains electronic legal files.
• Processes invoices for payment and supports office operations as needed.
• Provides professional diplomacy with clients, opposing counsel, and teammates.
• Handles file management tasks such as case matching, mail, and PDF generation.
