The Senior Litigation Support Project Manager is a seasoned eDiscovery professional responsible for promoting the effective use of eDiscovery technologies and managing complex litigation matters.
The position advises attorneys, paralegals, staff, and clients on discovery strategy, staffing, and budgets; manages vendor relationships; and leads defensible collection, processing, analytics, applied AI, review-platform administration, workflow development, and production of case data. The role works with a wide range of modern data sources, including email, mobile devices, cloud collaboration platforms, forensic data, social media, and structured data.
The Senior Project Manager serves as both a hands-on member of case teams and a senior resource within Litigation Support Services, mentoring junior staff and partnering with department leadership on strategy, technology, and operational initiatives.
Responsibilities Include
- Coordinate with clients, attorneys, paralegals, and vendors on the collection, organization, review, and production of hard-copy and electronic information.
- Manage discovery involving email, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Slack, Teams, social media, mobile-device data, forensic data, and structured data sources.
- Oversee case content and database administration across review platforms such as Relativity, Nuix Discover, and comparable technologies.
- Direct technology-assisted review, analytics, and generative AI-assisted review workflows.
- Utilize tools such as Harvey and Copilot in coordination with case teams and applicable Outside Counsel Guidelines.
- Lead the setup and administration of review workflows, processing procedures, analytics, and production processes.
- Serve as a senior technical and strategic resource to attorneys and litigation teams throughout the discovery lifecycle.
Case Strategy & Advisory
- Advise attorneys and paralegals on the appropriate scope of Litigation Support Services involvement and document/data-management strategy from discovery through trial.
- Advise case teams on defensible collection methodologies and chain-of-custody requirements.
- Provide guidance regarding collection from cloud collaboration platforms, social media, structured databases, mobile devices, and other modern data sources.
- Draft methodology memoranda, quick-reference guides, status reports, and other documentation reflecting key discovery decisions and processes.
- Advise on ESI protective orders and protocols.
- Provide guidance regarding data privacy and cross-border transfer considerations, including GDPR and comparable regimes, for matters involving international clients or data sources.
- Interface directly with clients regarding discovery strategy, workflows, technology, and case requirements.
- Support business-development efforts where appropriate.
Staffing, Budgets & Vendor Management
- Partner with the Director of Litigation Support Services and other LSS team members on staffing plans, project plans, and budgets for active matters and longer-term firm initiatives.
- Manage relationships with technology, eDiscovery, and forensic vendors.
- Participate in SOW and MSA negotiations.
- Review vendor invoices and monitor matter costs and budgets.
- Evaluate vendor performance and service delivery.
- Coordinate with vendors and firm IT teams to ensure appropriate technology and support are delivered to case teams.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize discovery workflows.
Training & Development
- Train, coach, and mentor attorneys, paralegals, and junior Litigation Support Services staff on supported technologies, platforms, and workflows.
- Participate in the professional development of junior LSS team members.
- Provide leadership and guidance to support staff assigned to active matters.
- Stay current on corporate information-management technologies, modern data sources, eDiscovery tools, industry trends, applied AI, and emerging discovery practices.
- Contribute to departmental technology, process-improvement, and strategic initiatives.
- Maintain high standards of confidentiality, discretion, and integrity when handling sensitive firm and client information.
Qualifications
- Deep experience with the litigation lifecycle and eDiscovery/litigation-support procedures and concepts.
- Strong understanding of defensible collection practices and chain-of-custody principles.
- Extensive hands-on proficiency with major document-review platforms such as Relativity, Nuix Discover, Reveal, Everlaw, or comparable technologies.
- Experience with data-processing and Early Case Assessment tools.
- Strong familiarity with modern data sources, including Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Slack, Teams, social media, mobile data, forensic data, and structured/database information.
- Demonstrated experience with generative AI tools such as Harvey, Copilot, or comparable technologies within a law firm environment.
- Working knowledge of technology-assisted review, analytics workflows, and emerging generative AI-assisted review technologies.
- Experience with Opus 2 is preferred, including transcript management and key-fact/timeline development.
- Experience supporting source-code reviews, including laptop configuration, security protocols, and hosting requirements.
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with regular expressions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Comfort interfacing directly with clients regarding case strategy and discovery-related matters.
- Ability to advise senior attorneys and case teams on sophisticated discovery strategy, technology, costs, and workflows.
- Strong project-management skills and ability to oversee multiple complex, deadline-driven matters simultaneously.
- Experience managing external eDiscovery and forensic vendors, budgets, SOWs, invoices, and performance.
- Ability to train, coach, and mentor junior staff and other professionals.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to other firm offices or trial sites as matters and initiatives require.
Experience & Education
- Minimum of six years of experience in litigation support, practice support, or paralegal work within an AmLaw100 firm or comparable sophisticated legal environment.
- At least three years of experience in a senior analyst or project-management capacity.
- Four-year degree from an accredited college or university required.
- JD or MBA preferred.
- Relevant professional certifications are preferred, including credentials such as Relativity Certified Administrator, ACEDS CEDS, PMP, or platform-specific certifications.
