Job summary

Morrison & Foerster in San Diego seeks a Senior Litigation Paralegal to support complex cases within the Litigation team. You will partner with attorneys and paralegals, manage cases, draft court-ready documents, and ensure efficient workflow in a deadline-driven environment.

The role requires seven years of relevant experience, trial exposure, discovery management, and strong research and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; paralegal credentials a plus.
• At least seven years of litigation support experience.
• Strong active listening and written communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with managing complex cases and deadlines.
• Collaborate with attorneys and paralegals to prepare court-ready documents.
• Administer discovery requests, responses, and productions.
• Draft and edit memos, briefs, and factual analyses.
• Mentor junior paralegals and support staff.

• Apply broad set of knowledge and skills to effectively manage complex cases, demonstrating insight into legal procedures, project management, cost efficiencies, and collaborative skills; effectively identify, promote, and apply technologies to maximize efficiency in carrying out assignments.


• Manage complex cases; develop relationships, internally and externally, to gather data and information and to create networks of relevant resources and services.


• Manage multiple concurrent projects and prioritize assignments appropriately; determine and implement effective organizational and procedural methods.


• Review and analyze documents and data, perform procedural and factual research with understanding of client, matter, and business needs; provide insightful analysis, recommendations, and solutions to further case objectives.


• Create and maintain, or oversee maintenance of, files, documents, and data.


• Prepare and edit a range of written materials, including correspondence, memoranda, drafts of legal documents, and factual analyses.


• Mentorship of junior paralegals and staff.


• Strong case management and case life-cycle skills.


• Proactive client engagement, communication, and relationship management with client contracts.


• Research to be conducted using tools, platforms, and databases approved or provided by the client.


• Review, analysis, and summarization of client generated materials.


• Engaging in developing shared knowledge resources, reference materials, and best practices for the broader product liability team.

About You

• Bachelor’s degree preferred


• Minimum of seven years of relevant experience in Litigation required


• Trial experience


• Significant experience in managing discovery requests, responses, and document production


• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision


• Strong sense of accountability, with a proactive approach to ownership and problem-solving


• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to follow complex instructions accurately


• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and perform effectively under pressure


• Strong research, analytical, and data synthesis skills


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint


• Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet client and business demands


• Willingness to travel as required
