Job summary

National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies - Insurance Company (NAMICO) seeks a Litigation Examiner to manage complex claim files, assess coverage, and oversee defense counsel and experts. The role involves loss prevention work, seminars, and coordination with underwriters, with travel as needed.

Qualified candidates have 3–5 years in claims, a JD preferred, and strong knowledge of tort and liability concepts; travel to Canada may be required and a valid passport is necessary.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of personal lines or commercial insurance claims experience.
• Experience in litigation management and/or professional liability claims.
• Ability to travel out of state regularly and occasionally to Canada.
• Licensing in states where required; reciprocal licenses when available.
• Insurance certifications/designations encouraged.
• Strong knowledge of tort law, contract law and liability concepts.
• Background in claims adjusting with litigation management experience.
• Effective public speaking skills.
• Must have a valid passport.
• Must pass criminal background check and maintain acceptable MVR.

Responsibilities

• Manage claim files from initial review to final resolution.
• Identify coverage issues and diary reserves.
• Retain defense counsel and outside investigators as needed.
• Attend mediations, arbitrations and trials.
• Prepare loss prevention articles and present seminars.
• Assist in marketing applicable products and training seminars.
• Build positive relationships with management, staff and external contacts.
