Job summary

Sirius XM is seeking an Associate General Counsel, Litigation, to oversee all aspects of litigation and pre-litigation matters across Sirius XM and Pandora. You will coordinate with internal teams and outside counsel to develop strategy, mitigate risk, and contain costs while guiding enterprise-wide litigation governance.

The role requires a JD with 8+ years of experience in complex litigation, strong leadership, and the ability to advise senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in the U.S.
• Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of applicable experience at a law firm or in-house legal department.
• Demonstrated experience leading critical, complex, or precedent-setting litigation and/or regulatory matters.
• Proven ability to advise senior leadership and drive enterprise litigation strategy and governance.
• Experience in music licensing matters is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of litigation and pre-litigation matters, including consumer protection, IP, class actions, rate court, and regulatory investigations.
• Develop and execute strategies to minimize risk and protect the company’s interests.
• Coordinate discovery, depositions, motions, and trial prep with external counsel.
• Evaluate settlements and advise leadership on risk mitigation.
• Serve as liaison with outside counsel to ensure cost-effective case management.
• Provide proactive legal counsel on potential disputes and policy recommendations.
• Develop and implement policies to reduce legal exposure and liability.
• Conduct internal investigations in response to complaints or investigations.
• Advise business units to prevent litigation and regulatory non-compliance.
• Collaborate with internal teams to align litigation strategy with business goals.
• Manage legal budgets and cost-containment related to litigation.
• Represent the company in mediations, arbitrations, and negotiations when needed.
• Drive enterprise-wide litigation objectives and governance standards.
• Act as an advisor translating legal exposure into strategic business recommendations.
