Job summary

Orion Placement is seeking an experienced attorney for a boutique litigation practice focused on sophisticated business disputes. Manage complex matters from strategy to resolution with strong autonomy, while representing California clients remotely.

The role requires a California Bar license, 5+ years of business or commercial litigation experience, and excellent writing/advocacy skills. Occasional in-person court appearances may be required in California.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Active California Bar license in good standing.
• 5+ years of business or commercial litigation experience.
• Strong courtroom, motion practice, and deposition experience.
• Excellent legal writing and oral advocacy skills.
• Experience managing litigation files independently.
• Strong negotiation and client counseling abilities.
• Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
• Comfortable working remotely while managing deadlines effectively.

Responsibilities

• Handle sophisticated business and commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution.
• Develop litigation strategy and advise clients on risk assessment and dispute resolution.
• Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, briefs, and other litigation documents.
• Conduct legal research and analyze complex legal issues under California law.
• Manage all phases of discovery, including depositions, written discovery, and document review.
• Prepare clients and witnesses for hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trial.
• Negotiate settlements while protecting client interests and business objectives.
• Appear before California Superior Courts for hearings and other proceedings.
• Collaborate with firm leadership to develop litigation strategy and improve client outcomes.
• Manage deadlines while independently handling an active litigation caseload.

Location:

Remote within California. Candidates must reside in California and be licensed with the California State Bar. Occasional in-person court appearances and client meetings may be required.
