Job summary

NAMIC is seeking a Sr. Litigation Examiner for its claims department in a remote capacity. The role focuses on Directors & Officers, fiduciary liability, E&O, EPLI, and related coverage disputes, with responsibilities in file review, defense coordination, reserves, and loss prevention.

The position requires strong litigation experience, coverage knowledge, and the ability to travel out of state and to Canada as needed. NAMIC offers a robust benefits package and professional environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years experience in personal lines insurance (property or liability) and/or commercial insurance lines claim handling.
• Experience in litigation management and/or professional liability claims.
• Ability to travel out of state regularly and occasionally to Canada.
• Juris Doctor preferred.
• Licensing in states where required securing reciprocal licenses when available.
• Insurance certifications/designations encouraged.
• Familiarity with insurance contracts and industry trends.
• Strong knowledge of tort law, contract law and liability concepts in Professional Liability claims.
• Background in claims adjusting with litigation management experience.
• Effective public speaking skills as needed.
• In-depth knowledge of liability policy language and coverage interpretation.
• Must have the ability to obtain a valid passport.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for claim files and reviews coverage under NAMIC program policy.
• Retains and manages defense counsel and experts; plans discovery and settlements.
• Keeps senior management apprised of large loss reserves or indemnity payments.
• Meets with parties, attends mediations, arbitrations and trials.
• Presents Loss Prevention articles and conducts seminars as needed.
