Qualifications

  • 8+ years of litigation and employment law experience required.

Atlas is looking for someone to join our Legal Team as Senior Litigation and Employment Counsel to be located in one of our hub offices or in a remote location. The Senior Litigation and Employment Counsel will be responsible for managing litigation and handling employment law matters for the Company.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Be a valued and trusted member of the Atlas Legal Department.
- Advise internal stakeholders as to legal risks and liabilities associated with litigation, claims, and employment law matters.
- Act as the point of contact for litigation, claims, and employment law matters, partnering and coordinating with other members of the Legal Department and the Company.
- Advise the Company, including HR professionals, on employment related issues and obligations in multi-jurisdictional operations, including internal disputes, wage and hour compliance, development of HR policies, and emerging legislative and regulatory changes affecting employment and labor obligations.
- Oversee and manage all phases of commercial, construction, employment, and certain personal injury/auto/property damage litigation and claims, including early dispute resolution, discovery, motions, trial preparation, and post-trial matters.
- Engage, manage, and work directly with outside counsel on litigation matters, including selecting and coordinating with outside counsel, managing legal budgets, and driving case strategy.
- Draft, review, and negotiate pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and other case documents.
- Conduct internal investigations, perform legal research, issue and manage litigation holds, and manage the discovery process, including the production of documents, deposition preparation, and responding to discovery requests.
- Communicate routinely and work directly with insurance companies in the handling of litigation matters.
- Support the health & safety team with OSHA and other regulatory and policy matters, working with outside counsel as appropriate
- Develop and deliver proactive training to business leaders on employment law matters and dispute avoidance.
- Deliver practical, business-oriented legal advice with a focus on meeting the Company goals in a legally compliant manner.
- Collaborate with other members of the Legal Team to continuously improve the Legal Team's processes and operations.
- Assist and support other members of the Legal Department as needed.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of litigation and employment law experience, with 3 to 5 years of engineering/construction related industry experience preferred.
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and admission to a State Bar.
- Significant experience advising on employment related issues.
- Significant experience managing or litigating complex cases in state and/or federal court.
- Both in-house and law firm experience preferred but not necessary.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Team player with a positive attitude who enjoys collaborating with others.
- Ability to manage a large, fast-paced, and dynamic workload with little supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong client-service mentality and excellent work ethic.
- Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.
- Willingness to travel when needed.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the work generally requires the routine physical demands associated with an office job, including working from a desk with a computer and movement within the office setting. Regular domestic travel for meetings and project site visits will be required from time to time.
Compensation:
$165K - $190k annual salary
The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state's law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
