Job summary

NC State University is seeking a Systems Programmer/Specialist to join the OIT - Shared Services team in Raleigh. The role leads Linux system provisioning, configuration management, and automation across multiple platforms, ensuring security standards and high availability.

You will work with technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible, Puppet, and monitoring tools, while supporting 24x7 on-call rotation and complex campus projects. A strong Linux background and scripting skills are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related field with 3+ years in operations analysis, design, or systems programming; OR
Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years in operations analysis, design, or systems programming; OR
Associate’s degree with 5+ years in operations analysis, design, or systems programming; OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

Lead architecture design, standard Linux image provisioning, patch management, and automation.
Provide Linux provisioning, monitoring, and on-call support; ensure PCI-DSS, NIST 800-171, ISO 27002 security compliance.
Support 24x7 on-call rotation and assist campus IT professionals with systems integrations.
Design, deploy, and maintain central monitoring, notification, and on-call services.
