Job summary

Peraton Labs is seeking a poly cleared Linux Systems Engineer to design, implement, and sustain secure, mission-focused research infrastructure in Maryland. This role emphasizes hands-on Linux administration across classified and unclassified environments.

The position requires full-time on-site work at a customer site near College Park, MD, with responsibilities spanning system setup, security hardening, and collaboration with Peraton and customer teams.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5+ years of experience with a Bachelor's, 3+ years with a Master's, or a PhD in Computer Science or related field.
Experience Linux system administration in operational environments.
Experience supporting IT and telecommunications delivery.
Experience installing/configuring IT/network hardware and software.
US Citizenship with an active TS/SCI w/ Poly required.

Responsibilities

Implement, maintain, and enhance research infrastructure and security posture across classified/unclassified spaces.
Perform Linux and Windows system administration for workstations and servers.
Install, configure, troubleshoot, and integrate GOTS/COTS/open-source solutions.
Support virtualization platforms, compute/storage, and remote access.
Configure networking and TCP/IP, including switching, routing, port activation, and cabling.
Build and update gold images for Linux/Windows; apply baseline configurations and hardening.
Execute patching and system/tool updates; assist with audit/readiness tasks.
Support security activities such as endpoint protection, malware detection, IDS, logging/auditing.
Physically set up, cable, label, power systems; implement physical controls in secure spaces.
Sanitize and release system components/media per procedures.
Maintain knowledge of security policies and safeguards.
