Job summary

Imagineeer is seeking a Systems Engineer with strong Linux expertise to support and maintain server environments across Amazon Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). The role includes building custom Linux images, applying patches, hardening systems, and ensuring security and performance for federal operations.

The candidate should thrive in a fully remote, distributed team and be eligible for a Public Trust clearance.

Qualifications

• 6–10 years of experience as a Systems Engineer or Linux Administrator.
• Strong hands-on experience with Amazon Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
• Experience building and maintaining custom Linux images and AMIs.
• Experience with system patching, hardening, and compliance (STIGs, NIST, FISMA).
• Strong scripting/automation skills (Bash, Python, Ansible).
• Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and support Linux server environments (Amazon Linux, RHEL).
• Build, configure, and maintain custom Linux images/AMIs for standardized deployment.
• Perform system patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management for security/compliance.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot, and perform proactive maintenance for high availability.
• Automate system administration tasks using scripting tools (Bash, Python, Ansible).
• Manage security configurations, hardening, and compliance with federal standards (NIST, FISMA, STIGs).
• Support vulnerability remediation across Linux servers.
• Collaborate with DevOps, cybersecurity, and infrastructure teams on deployments and integrations.
