Job summary

SciTec Incorporated, a Firefly Aerospace subsidiary, seeks a skilled Linux System Administrator to install, secure, and operate Linux/Windows systems in a secure, mission-focused environment. You will work across security, infrastructure, and operations teams to deliver end-to-end software processing of OPIR data for mission-critical defense programs.

The role requires hands-on experience with RHEL, virtualization, and system hardening, plus ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of professional Linux administration experience (RHEL preferred).
• Experience installing/configuring RHEL 8 servers/workstations.
• Security hardening (STIG), auditing, and backup strategies.
• Patch and package management responsibilities.
• Virtualization technologies including VMware, Podman, Docker, image registries, OpenShift/Kubernetes.
• Networking in heterogeneous Linux/Windows environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication; detail oriented; team collaboration.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain RHEL workstations and servers per baselines.
• Implement system security, hardening, auditing, and backups.
• Manage patching and third‑party software installation.
• Monitor performance; troubleshoot hardware/software issues.
• Support virtualization (VMware) and workstation environments.
• Configure networking in mixed Linux/Windows environments.
• Document configurations and changes per policy.
• Collaborate with security, ops, and end users.
• Contribute to automation and modernization efforts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
