Job summary

Shield Consulting Solutions, Inc. in Laurel, MD seeks a senior Systems Engineer with active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph. The role focuses on configuring, managing and troubleshooting Linux systems, and leading Systems Engineering efforts across IT infrastructure.

Required are VMware, Splunk and Ansible proficiency, plus hands-on IT systems support for client/server/storage and networks. Excellent benefits accompany the full‑time role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or 5 additional years of system engineer experience may substitute for a degree.
• Configure, manage and troubleshoot Linux OS and related components to improve reliability and performance.
• Extensive experience with VMware and IT infrastructure management.

Responsibilities

• Configure, manage and troubleshoot Linux operating systems.
• Install/load OS software and maintain system integrity.
• Troubleshoot and manage network components and OS enhancements for reliability and performance.
• Extensive experience with VMware.
• Demonstrated experience with automation/configuration tools such as Splunk or Ansible.
• Lead Systems Engineering efforts and provide IT systems support and maintenance.
• Manage IT system infrastructure and related processes.
• Support for day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for client/server/storage/network devices.

Job Description

• Configure, manage and troubleshoot Linux operating systems. Installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoot and maintain integrity and configures network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.
• Extensive experience with VMWare
• Demonstrated experience with modern automation/configuration tools such as Splunk or Ansible
• Demonstrated experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts is required
• Provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems.
• Manage IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems.
• Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.
• Provide support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and will remain involved in the resolution process.
• Optimize system operations and resource utilization and perform system capacity analysis and planning.
