Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux/RHEL servers.
• Support DNS/DDI infrastructure.
• Automate configuration, deployment, and maintenance with Ansible and scripting.
• Work with Cisco Software Defined Networking as part of day-to-day system support.
• Support VMware in a small portion of the environment.
• Perform patching, upgrades, backups, and audits per NASA IT policies.
• Monitor and tune performance and reliability; document procedures.

About the Role

Altech Solutions is hiring a Mid-Level Linux Systems Administrator to support enterprise IT systems at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. This is a hands‑on, Linux‑first role. Most of the work centers on DNS/DDI servers, with a strong emphasis on automation through Ansible and scripting.

What You’ll Do

• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux/RHEL servers in a NASA operational environment
• Support DNS/DDI infrastructure
• Automate configuration, deployment, and maintenance tasks using Ansible and scripting
• Work with Cisco Software Defined Networking as part of day‑to‑day system support
• Support the small portion of the environment that runs on VMware
• Perform patching, upgrades, backups, and routine audits to keep systems compliant with NASA IT policies
• Monitor and tune systems for performance and reliability
• Write and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and system diagrams
• Work closely with network engineers, application teams, and other administrators to resolve issues

What We Need

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field
• 6+ years of professional systems administration experience
• Hands‑on experience with Ansible and scripting (Bash, Python, or similar)
• Working knowledge of Cisco Software Defined Networking
• Experience with DNS/DDI servers
• Some VMware experience

Preferred

• Red Hat certification (RHCSA/RHCE) and/or CompTIA Security+
• Experience supporting government, aerospace, or NASA environments
• Current Public Trust clearance

Requirements

• US citizenship is required. This position supports a federal contract and requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• This is an on‑site position at NASA MSFC. You must live within 50 miles of Huntsville, AL. Relocation is not provided.
