Altech Solutions is seeking a Senior Application Packaging & Endpoint Management Engineer for on-site work at the NASA IV&V Facility in Fairmont, WV. You will manage 100+ applications, convert installers to silent MSI packages, and oversee Flexera AdminStudio, KACE SMA, and BigFix deployments.

The role is senior, hands-on, and involves guiding a team of developers, with a focus on security, patching, and compliance across workstations and VDI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of professional IT or software development experience
• 5+ years of Windows application packaging and software distribution
• Proficiency with Flexera AdminStudio
• 3+ years of hands-on Quest KACE SMA (K1000) administration, plus BigFix administration experience
• Custom BigFix Relevance queries and Action Scripts
• 3+ years of PowerShell and VBScript, including KScripts
• 3+ years of web application development and maintenance
• 3+ years building and maintaining Power Automate workflows
• Deep knowledge of Windows Server/Client, Active Directory/GPO, DHCP, DNS, and TCP/IP
• Basic MS SQL Server administration as it relates to BigFix

Responsibilities

• Package, maintain, and support 100+ applications on IV&V workstations and VDI
• Convert .exe and legacy installers into MSI packages and MST transforms using AdminStudio Repackager
• Write PowerShell and VBScript custom actions for configurations and registry changes
• Debug install failures, read MSI logs, resolve file/registry conflicts, and test on clean VMs
• Edit and validate MSI tables in AdminStudio to clear ICEs
• Run and maintain KACE SMA appliances, including updates and agent lifecycle
• Deploy applications and scripts using KScripts and PowerShell, ensuring compliance
• Perform discovery scans, inventory, license reconciliation, and compliance audits
• Build Smart Labels with LDAP queries and write custom SQL reports
• Maintain KACE Service Desk queues and knowledge base
• Maintain BigFix core servers, relays, and database; troubleshoot deployment issues
• Write and test Fixlets and tasks; manage third‑party patching
• Produce compliance reports for leadership and audit teams
• Manage SharePoint site libraries, lists, and permissions
• Build Power Automate flows connecting SharePoint to REST APIs; monitor flows

About the Role

Altech Solutions is hiring a senior engineer for application packaging, software deployment, and endpoint management at the NASA Katherine Johnson Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) Facility in Fairmont, WV. You’ll keep 100+ applications packaged, deployed, patched, and compliant across IV&V workstations and VDI. The main tools are Flexera AdminStudio, Quest KACE SMA, and HCL BigFix. You’ll also run the IT Services SharePoint site and its Power Automate workflows. This is a senior, hands‑on role, and you’ll guide the work of other developers on the team.

What You’ll Do

Software packaging and deployment

• Package, maintain, and support 100+ applications on IV&V workstations and VDI
• Convert .exe and legacy installers into clean, silent MSI packages and MST transforms using AdminStudio Repackager
• Write PowerShell and VBScript custom actions for complex configurations and registry changes
• Debug install failures, read MSI logs, resolve file and registry conflicts, and test on clean VMs
• Edit and validate MSI tables in AdminStudio to clear Internal Consistency Errors (ICEs)

KACE SMA

• Run the virtual and physical KACE SMA appliances, including updates, maintenance, and the KACE Agent lifecycle
• Deploy applications and scripts (KScripts, PowerShell, VBScript, Shell), using Verify and Remediation logic to fix compliance issues automatically
• Run discovery scans and inventory, reconcile software licenses, and produce compliance audits
• Build Smart Labels with advanced filters and LDAP queries
• Write custom SQL reports on hardware lifecycle, patch levels, and software compliance
• Maintain KACE Service Desk queues, workflows, and the knowledge base

BigFix

• Maintain BigFix core servers, relays, and database, and tune the relay hierarchy for bandwidth
• Troubleshoot agent connectivity and deployment failures
• Write and test Fixlets and tasks, and manage third‑party application patching
• Produce compliance reports for leadership and audit teams

SharePoint and Power Automate

• Manage the IT Services SharePoint site: libraries, lists, metadata columns, and item‑level permissions
• Build and maintain Power Automate flows that connect SharePoint to Power Apps and external REST APIs
• Monitor flow run history and fix integration errors

Compliance

• Track NASA SOC Mitigation Action Requirements (MARs) and fix vulnerabilities as the Agency directs
• Run daily system and patch compliance checks
• Attend bi‑weekly CSET BigFix meetings

What We Need

• Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of professional IT or software development experience

• US citizenship is required. This position supports a federal contract. Non‑citizens, including green card holders and visa holders, are not eligible. Please do not apply if you are not a US citizen.

• This is a 100% on‑site position at the NASA IV&V Facility. You must already live within 50 miles of Fairmont, WV. Relocation is not provided.
