Job summary

Medtronic Minnesota is seeking a software engineer to accelerate the development lifecycle and deliver secure, platform-grade software for medical devices. You will work on platform software, Yocto-based Linux distributions, and CI/CD pipelines to enhance reliability and regulatory compliance.

The role requires strong Linux, Docker, and scripting skills (Python/C++), with collaboration across cross-functional teams and hands-on optimization of GPU software stacks in Yocto environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience OR PhD with 0 years relevant experience
• Experience configuring and customizing Linux
• Experience creating Yocto-based Linux distributions
• Hands-on experience with security principles and best practices, including secure boot, and software security hardening.
• Well-versed in containerization technologies, particularly Docker, and have practical experience integrating and optimizing NVIDIA drivers and related GPU software stacks within Linux and Yocto-based systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain platform software and build infrastructure
• Create and support Yocto-based Linux distributions for varied hardware targets
• Create CI/CD pipelines integrated with security and functionality automation tools
• Support secure networking, secure boot, and OS update mechanisms
• Maintain platform support for containerized applications using Docker
• Collaborate with product teams to define platform capabilities
• Develop and document various aspects of the platform as required for regulatory approval
