Job summary

The D.E.Shaw group is seeking a senior systems engineer with extensive Linux experience to join its Platform Engineering team in New York. This hands-on role involves maintaining infrastructure, security policy, and core services across datacenters, cloud, and offices worldwide.

You will collaborate with a global engineering team to design, implement, and improve scalable Linux-based systems, optimize deployment pipelines, and contribute to cross-functional initiatives across the firm.

Qualifications

• At least ten years of comparable work experience and Python development experience required.
• Excellent troubleshooting capabilities and diagnostic tracing tools experience at both host and network level, with in-depth knowledge of Linux-based OS and configuration management tools.
• Impressive communication skills to work with a global team and across departments.
• Familiarity with automated build, software deployment, and CI/CD systems.

Responsibilities

• Be part of a team that designs and maintains the firm’s global network, operating systems, security policy and infrastructure, and core network services across datacenters, cloud services, and offices.
• Work to continuously improve the security framework of a fast-paced, large-scale infrastructure environment that supports investment activity and technology development.
• Contribute to the design, implementation, and integration of infrastructure systems, particularly on Linux-based systems.
