Job summary

United Launch Alliance, LLC. is seeking a System Administrator 3 – Linux/Cloud in Denver to manage and operate Linux systems across on‑prem and cloud environments.

You will own routine operational work, patching, monitoring, and incident response to maintain stability and security of enterprise infrastructure. The role requires solid Linux administration, cloud experience (AWS/Azure), and scripting/automation skills with a focus on reliability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field from an accredited college or university.
• Four years of directly related exempt work experience may be used to satisfy the degree requirement.
• Experience administering enterprise Linux systems in production environments.
• Strong Linux administration skills (CLI, services, filesystems, permissions, packaging, logging, performance).
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or similar).
• Experience with monitoring, patching, upgrades, backups, and incident support.
• Troubleshooting ability for Linux systems and services with limited supervision.
• Familiarity with operational processes (incident, change, documentation).
• Knowledge of virtualization, storage, networking, and security fundamentals.
• Experience with scripting or automation (Bash, Python, Ansible, or similar).
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively; strong communication; documentation discipline.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and support Linux servers and related infrastructure in production environments.
• Support Linux systems deployed on-premises and in cloud environments (AWS/Azure).
• Perform patching, upgrades, maintenance, and routine lifecycle tasks for Linux and cloud workloads.
• Monitor system health, availability, capacity, and performance; respond to alerts.
• Troubleshoot OS, service, storage, access, and performance issues; escalate when needed.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls per security standards.
• Support backup, recovery, DR readiness, and operational validation.
• Document system configurations, procedures, and changes.
• Participate in incident response, change implementation, on-call support, and team rhythms.
• Contribute to automation and scripting to reduce manual work.
