Job summary

White Lodging is seeking a skilled line cook to mentor entry-level cooks and oversee daily preparation at The Shepherd Hotel’s food outlet.

You will follow company procedures, ensure food safety, manage portions, and support cost controls on fast-paced shifts with opportunities to grow within the company.

Qualifications

• Basic cooking skills across cooking methods (sautéing, broiling, frying, roasting).
• Knowledge of proper food handling and kitchen equipment.
• Culinary education or apprenticeship preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Mentor entry-level cooks and apprentices and supervise daily preparation.
• Follow F&B procedures, health department regulations, and federal guidelines.
• Ensure proper food handling and storage; monitor freshness and quality.
• Assist in maintaining food cost and labor cost standards.
• Check freshness of foods, ensure recipes and portions are followed.
• Monitor guest feedback and maintain service consistency.
• Foster cooperation and respect among coworkers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

• Mentor entry-level cooks and apprentices while overseeing daily preparation and production in your food outlet.
• Follow company F&B procedures, health department regulations, and federal guidelines.
• Ensure proper food handling and storage procedures are followed at all times.
• Assist in maintaining food cost and labor cost standards.
• Check freshness of foods and ingredients, ensuring all recipes and portion-use records are followed.
• Monitor and positively influence guest feedback scores through food quality and service consistency.
• Foster a climate of cooperation and respect between coworkers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Bring

• Knowledge of all cooking and preparation equipment.
• Basic cooking skills including sautéing, broiling, frying, roasting, butchery, garde manger, pantry, and breakfast cookery.
• Culinary education or apprenticeship preferred but not mandatory.
• Ability to stand and move at a fast pace for long periods of time.
