Job summary

The City of Fort Worth seeks a Senior LIMS Programmer Analyst in the Strategic Operations division of the Water Department. The role reports to the Assistant Water Director and supports the Central Laboratory, ensuring laboratory data accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Ideal candidates combine laboratory knowledge with ability to learn new technical skills. Responsibilities include developing system upgrades, configuring LIMS modules, and training staff in data workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Environmental Science, IT, CS or related field
• Five years of hands-on programming experience with LIMS or similar data management system
• Valid Driver’s License

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day LIMS operations, maintenance, system administration, and user training
• Develop and maintain SQL/PL/SQL scripts for data validation, reporting and automation
• Develop and maintain laboratory reports within LIMS
• Administer LIMS user roles, access controls, and workflow permissions
• Troubleshoot LIMS issues and provide end-user support
• Support and validate laboratory IT systems or instrument integration
• Collaborate with IT teams and vendors to resolve system/integration issues
• Create training materials and SOPs and provide hands-on training
• Maintain regular onsite presence to support daily lab operations
• Perform other related duties as assigned
