Job summary

National Equity Fund, Inc. (NEF) is seeking an Asset Manager to join the Transaction and Asset Operations Team in Chicago or St. Louis.

You will oversee property and asset management across the investment life cycle to ensure delivery of LIHTC benefits and projected passive losses. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in asset management or related real estate finance, with strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in related field; Master’s preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of asset management, property management, or real estate finance experience.
• Strong analytical and communication skills; able to identify and mitigate risks.
• Proven ability to build relationships with sponsors, lenders, and agencies.
• Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with Section 42 is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyze financial feasibility of investment proposals with asset-management perspective.
• Coordinate with team to review transactional plans for timely delivery and long-term success.
• Manage construction, lease-up, cost certification, and 8609 processes to ensure credits timing.
• Support compliance and reporting, and oversee risk identification and mitigation.
• Mentor Asset Management Analysts and oversee data input in SMT.
• Foster strong relationships with project sponsors and external partners.
