Job summary

Des Moines Performing Arts (DMPA) seeks a Head Electrician/Production Manager to oversee electrical and lighting operations for performances and events. You will coordinate production needs, supervise crews, and ensure safe, high-quality execution across DMPA venues.

The role requires extensive theatrical lighting expertise, strong leadership, and collaboration with touring personnel, clients, and production staff to deliver exceptional shows.

Qualifications

• Five+ years as a theatrical electrician, including at least two years as Head Electrician in a major performing arts venue.
• Experience advancing productions and coordinating electrical/lighting requirements for performances.
• Experience supervising production crews and union stagehand labor in live entertainment.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical and lighting operations for productions across DMPA venues.
• Supervise stagehand crews; train, coach, and manage performance staff.
• Maintain electrical systems and equipment; perform preventative maintenance.
