Job summary

SmithGroup's Los Angeles office is seeking a Lighting Designer to join our team. You will lead lighting and daylighting design for projects, coordinate with project teams and clients, and supervise staff to ensure design excellence and on-time delivery.

Ideal candidates have a BS in Architectural Engineering with a lighting concentration, 4+ years of lighting design experience, proficiency in CAD, 3ds Max, Grasshopper, Revit and Adobe, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• BS in Architectural Engineering with a lighting concentration or equivalent.
• 4+ years of lighting design experience.
• Proficiency with CAD/3ds Max/Grasshopper/Revit/Adobe and Office.
• Ability to coordinate lighting and controls in construction documents.

Responsibilities

• Provide lighting and daylighting services to SmithGroup offices and clients nationally and internationally.
• Lead the lighting design for projects ensuring schedule, budget and standards compliance.
• Coach assigned lighting design staff and supervise design work of others.
• Meet with clients, project teams, code officials and contractors to address design issues.
• Select lighting systems in collaboration with manufacturers and teams.
• Develop and present design concepts for complex projects.
