Job summary

BR+A Consulting Engineers is seeking a Senior Lighting Designer for our Charlotte office who brings a strong design perspective and is ready to lead projects from concept through construction administration.

You will develop design ideas, communicate clearly to architects and clients, and mentor junior designers while owning project work. This role focuses on human-centric, sustainable lighting across healthcare, corporate, and hospitality environments.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of architectural lighting design experience, including leading project design and delivery.
• Strong design sensibility and the ability to carry a concept through all project phases.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
• Ability to mentor junior designers while owning project work.
• Degree in lighting design, architecture, interior design, or related field; strong portfolio.
• LC or CLD certification required.

Borealis Lighting Studio is looking for a Senior Lighting Designer in our Boston, Houston, or Charlotte office who brings a strong design point of view and is ready to lead projects from concept through construction administration. You’ll play a key creative role on project teams, developing strong design ideas, communicating them clearly to architects and clients, and carrying them through each phase of the work.

Our studio works at the intersection of lighting design and engineering, with a focus on human-centric, sustainable design. Our work spans healthcare, laboratory, and specialized environments as well as landscape, exterior, corporate, hospitality, museum, and art installation lighting.

What you bring:

• 8+ years of architectural lighting design experience, including leading project design and delivery
• A strong design sensibility and the ability to carry a concept through all project phases
• Strong communication and client-facing skills
• The ability to mentor junior designers while owning your project work
• A degree in lighting design, architecture, interior design, or a related field, supported by a strong portfolio
• Fluency in Revit, AutoCAD, AGI32, Photoshop, and InDesign
• LC or CLD certification required
