Job summary

W. G. Yates & Sons Construction Company is seeking a Lift Director to lead crane, hoisting and rigging operations on our project sites. You will ensure safety compliance with OSHA, ASME, and site policies while driving leadership across teams.

Responsibilities include lift planning, on-site oversight, coordination with field crews, and ensuring documentation is maintained for all lifts and inspections. A strong safety leadership mindset and extensive crane experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of Lift Director or similar supervisory experience.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of hands-on crane and rigging experience in heavy construction.
• NCCCO certification or able to sit for NCCCO Lift Director Certification.
• Experience in site logistics, rigging design, ground support evaluation, and crane planning.
• High school diploma or equivalent; degree in CM/Engineering/Safety desirable; industry experience may substitute.

Responsibilities

• Onsite full-time oversight before and during crane assembly, testing, lifting operations and disassembly.
• Develop, review and approve lift plans including critical lifts and site logistics.
• Supervise crane setup, assembly, rigging, counterweight positioning, and disassembly per specs.
• Coordinate rigging and hoisting, verify load calculations and qualifications of crew.
• Conduct pre-lift safety meetings and daily briefings with operators and crews.
• Stop unsafe work and enforce compliance with OSHA and site safety rules.
• Ensure contract scope compliance and accurate documentation of lifts.
• Maintain logs, inspections, and certifications; coordinate with management and trades.
