Job summary

Cincinnatus LLC is recruiting a senior biochemistry and life sciences domain expert to collaborate with an AI lab's research and program management teams. You will review QA tasks, craft instruction specs, and build benchmarks to ensure models reason effectively about real-life sciences problem sets.

This is a full-time W-2 position with Cincinnatus LLC, located in the Bay Area, CA, requiring on-site work and relocation if needed.

Qualifications

• PhD in biochemistry, molecular or cell biology, genetics, immunology, neuroscience, or a closely related life science.
• 4+ years of substantive research experience at a recognized institution (university, medical center, national lab or industrial research org).
• Genuine domain specialization in at least one life science area.
• Clear progression to a senior level with ownership of research direction.
• Peer-reviewed publications, ideally first-author work in strong journals.
• Hands-on working use of large language models in professional work.
• Able to commit reliably to 40 hours per week for an initial engagement of 6 months.
• Living in the Bay Area, California, and able to work on-site with the client's team multiple days per week.
• Excellent written communication and precise, well-structured feedback.

Responsibilities

• Data QA and reviews: Vet quality of life sciences knowledge work tasks and model outputs.
• Instruction specs and golden datasets: Write specs and golden solutions for life sciences problems.
• Benchmarks and domain depth: Design challenging life sciences tasks and evaluation sets.
• Calibration: Align standards with client researchers and translate tacit judgment into criteria.
