Job summary

Tampico Healthcare Center in Walnut Creek, CA seeks an Activities Assistant to plan and facilitate social and recreational events for residents in a skilled nursing environment. The role requires communication, safety awareness, and CNA certification.

You will work closely with nursing staff to evaluate residents, maintain records, and develop monthly activity calendars that enhance quality of life for residents with varying needs.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate, keep order and enforce safety rules.
• Experience with residents with physical or mental limitations.
• Must have California CNA certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist in evaluating each resident within 7 days of admission to plan activities.
• Develops and maintains records of attendance and participation in the program.
• Maintains a current list of residents not physically able to participate and activity types.
• Maintains a system for visiting residents to assess recreational needs.
• Demonstrates knowledge of residents' disabilities and related impacts.
• Develops and posts a monthly activities calendar and coordinates with services.
• Maintains quarterly progress notes and reviews progress towards goals.
• Assists and coordinates the monthly resident council meeting and follows up on issues.
• Perform other duties as requested.
