Job summary

University of Michigan-Flint is seeking an Information Resources Specialist Senior to join the Frances Willson Thompson Library team. You will serve as the Library Specialist at the front desk, assist users, coordinate with librarians, and oversee Student Peer Library Research Assistants.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree plus 3+ years of library experience, strong communication, and the ability to handle essential duties onsite in Flint, MI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years of directly relevant library experience.
• Experience with standard office applications (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented and team-focused.
• Able to adapt to a changing environment and be flexible.
• Must lift/move items 25-50 pounds, push a cart and handle shelves.

Responsibilities

• Provide library research assistance to users across formats (in-person, chat, email, phone).
• Coordinate with librarians and supervise Peer Library Research Assistants.
• Manage front desk operations and daily workflow with student assistants.
• Cover morning/evening shifts as needed and supervise circulation desk activities.
• Update course reserves and ensure Alma/Primo reflect holdings.
