Job summary

The Houston Public Library is hiring a Senior Library Service Specialist to support Neighborhood Libraries. You will provide outstanding customer service at desks and by phone, and lead engaging programs for youth across ages.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, one year of related experience, and the ability to work evenings and weekends. Bilingual Spanish/English is preferred; training staff and data reporting are part of duties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; related experience may substitute.
• One year of professional/paraprofessional library experience required.
• Substitution options include a two-year degree with three years' experience or five years' experience.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist at public service desks and by phone.
• Create youth programming including story times, arts, STEM.
• Provide tech help and troubleshoot devices.
• Promote library services locally and systemwide.
• Assist with collection maintenance and shelving.
• May serve as assistant manager when needed.
• Evening and weekend shifts required.
• Engage with diverse communities.
