Qualifications

• MLS degree from an ALA-accredited library school.
• Three years of professional library work experience required.
• Minimum two years of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist patrons in the use of the Library and ensure top-quality user experiences.
• Plan, manage, and administer professional library services.
• Recruit, schedule, train, and supervise librarians and staff. May approve timecards.
• Supervise staff engaged in providing library services; may input into disciplinary matters.
• Promote libraries, library services and library programs.
• Manage programming; schedule and publicize programs and events.
• Maintain an active role in the community to promote library and city services.
• Manage budgeting for a program, functional area, or division.
• Prepare reports based on data for library activity.
• Participate in library projects; lead and join committees and teams.
• Respond to challenging situations and emergencies.
• Schedule, attend and/or present training and education seminars.

Education
