Confidential Employer seeks an experienced attorney to manage liability defense matters from inception through resolution in a regional NY/PA practice. You will draft pleadings, conduct depositions, and participate in mediations and settlement negotiations.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of relevant litigation experience.
• Hands-on liability defense or comparable civil defense litigation experience.
• Experience drafting pleadings and handling written discovery.
• Experience taking and defending depositions.
• Experience attending and participating in mediations.
• Exceptional writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
• Active attorney license in good standing for applicable jurisdiction.
• Trial experience preferred.
• Additional state bar admissions preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage liability defense matters and contribute to litigation strategy from inception through resolution.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, discovery responses, and other legal documents.
• Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
• Prepare for and participate in mediations and settlement negotiations.
• Analyze case facts, liability exposure, damages, and potential resolution strategies.
• Conduct legal research and prepare persuasive written advocacy.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and other case participants.
• Manage multiple active matters while meeting deadlines and responding to urgent developments.
• Assist with trial preparation and take on greater trial responsibility based on experience.
