Job summary

Orion Placement is seeking a seasoned defense-litigation attorney to manage liability defense matters from inception through resolution across NY/PA. You will draft pleadings, conduct depositions, participate in mediations, and develop case strategy in collaboration with clients and experts.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years of relevant experience, strong writing and advocacy skills, active bar admission, and a track record in civil defense.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of relevant litigation experience.
• Hands-on liability defense or comparable civil defense litigation experience.
• Experience drafting pleadings and handling written discovery.
• Experience taking and defending depositions.
• Experience attending and participating in mediations.
• Active attorney license in good standing.
• Trial experience preferred.
• Additional state bar admissions preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage liability defense matters and contribute to litigation strategy from inception through resolution
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, discovery responses, and other legal documents
• Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts
• Prepare for and participate in mediations and settlement negotiations
• Analyze case facts, liability exposure, damages, and potential resolution strategies
• Conduct legal research and prepare persuasive written advocacy
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and other case participants
• Manage multiple active matters while meeting deadlines and responding to urgent developments
• Assist with trial preparation and take on greater trial responsibility based on experience

Location:New York / Pennsylvania. This is a regional NY/PA opportunity supporting liability defense matters across the area. Current third-party job listings indicate remote flexibility, with attendance at depositions, mediations, court proceedings, and other case-related events as needed.

Note:Candidates should have 6+ years of relevant litigation experience, including hands‑on experience preparing pleadings and discovery, taking and defending depositions, and attending mediations. Trial experience and additional state bar admissions are preferred.
