Job summary

The City of San Diego is seeking a Supervising Liability Claims Representative to oversee a professional staff within the Public Liability Claims Program and Loss Recovery efforts. You will review, adjust, and pursue settlements on highly complex claims against the City, coordinating with insurers and City departments to ensure accuracy and compliance.

This role requires four years of related experience and credentials such as ARM/CPCU or an Independent Adjuster's License.

Qualifications

• Four years of full‑time professional experience investigating, adjusting and settling liability claims.
• Experience at or equivalent to a Claims Representative II with the City of San Diego.
• California driver license may be required at hire.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise a professional staff within the Public Liability Claims Program.
• Review, manage and adjust highly complex and sensitive claims.
• Negotiate settlements with claimants and attorneys.
• Prepare written reports and provide staff training.
• Liaise with City Departments and the City Attorney.
