Job summary

Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies in Wilkes-Barre, PA is seeking a Senior Liability Adjuster to manage a caseload of 80–115 commercial general liability claims, including large-loss and highly litigated matters up to policy limits. You will analyze coverage, liability and contract language to develop effective resolution strategies.

The role offers a hybrid schedule (2 days remote / 3 in‑office), predictable hours, competitive pay with generous PTO and comprehensive benefits starting

Qualifications

• 10+ years adjusting CGL and related claims or equivalent experience.
• Bachelor's degree; active attorney license is a plus.
• Advanced knowledge of coverage analysis and policy interpretation.
• Experience evaluating contracts and risk transfer opportunities.
• Strong written, verbal, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Proven ability to prioritize a complex claims caseload.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for mediations, hearings, trials, and conferences.

In This Role, You'll

• Analyze coverage, liability, contracts, and risk transfer
• Develop resolution strategies and negotiate settlements
• Direct defense counsel and collaborate on litigation strategy
• Evaluate evidence and claim documentation
• Establish appropriate reserves and process settlements

• 10+ years of prior experience adjusting CGL and BOP liability claims or equivalent experience
• Bachelor's degree, active attorney license is a plus
• Advanced knowledge of coverage analysis and policy interpretation
• Experience evaluating contracts, priority of coverage, and risk transfer opportunities
• Strong written, verbal, analytical, and organizational skills
• Proven ability to prioritize and manage a complex claims caseload
• Ability to travel occasionally for mediations, hearings, trials, and conferences
• Licensing Requirement: Candidates must hold an active adjuster license or be willing and able to obtain and maintain all required state licenses. The company will support the licensing process, including training and compliance with ongoing continuing education requirements.

Salary $100,000 - $150,000 +bonus

In accordance with applicable pay transparency laws, this range represents a good-faith estimate. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, credentials, geographic location, and other considerations permitted by law.
