Job summary

Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies in the United States is seeking a Senior Liability Adjuster to manage a caseload of 80–115 commercial general liability claims, including large‑loss and highly litigated matters.

You will analyze coverage and contracts, develop resolution strategies, direct defense counsel, and establish reserves while collaborating with cross‑functional teams. Occasional travel required to mediations, hearings, and trials.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of prior experience adjusting CGL and BOP liability claims or equivalent experience.
• Bachelor's degree, active attorney license is a plus.
• Advanced knowledge of coverage analysis and policy interpretation.
• Experience evaluating contracts, priority of coverage, and risk transfer opportunities.
• Strong written, verbal, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Proven ability to prioritize and manage a complex claims caseload.
• Ability to travel occasionally for mediations, hearings, trials, and conferences.
• Licensing Requirement: Active adjuster license or willingness to obtain and maintain licenses, with company support.

Responsibilities

• Own a caseload of complex high-exposure CGL claims.
• Manage litigated, large-loss, catastrophic matters.
• Analyze coverage, liability, contracts, and risk transfer.
• Develop resolution strategies and negotiate settlements.
• Direct defense counsel and collaborate on litigation strategy.
• Evaluate evidence and claim documentation.
• Establish appropriate reserves and process settlements.
