Senior Transmission Line Engineer
POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer for our Overhead Transmission design team. The candidate will work in the Power Delivery Overhead Transmission Line Department in our Austin, TX office.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading, supporting, and coordinating the following:
- POWER/WSP Culture

- Maintain a healthy relationship with colleagues and foster areas of improvement where needed
- Project Support
- Lead the initial project execution layout to ensure an efficient and effective project plan has been established
- Manage engineers, drafters, and designers on small to medium sized engineering projects and interface directly with the client
- Responsible for creating and maintaining a project schedule and budget
- Conduct weekly or bi-weekly project meetings to clearly outline upcoming deliverables and tasks with responsible personnel identified
- Coordinate with clients on project status and support project meetings as necessary
- Maintain project workflow and thorough communication across multi-discipline projects, both internal and external to POWER/WSP
- Forecast upcoming project requirements to assist in resource planning
- Facilitate and adhere to POWER/WSP’s QA/QC procedures to ensure the correct personnel perform the required reviews
- Participate in industry conferences to improve professional growth and knowledge transfer
- Develop transmission line design knowledge related to PLS-CADD, structure design, foundations, assembly drawings, steel pole performance loading, material procurement, construction specifications, and support
- Project Manager Support
- Maintain project status reports
- Provide regular project updates and forecasts
- Lead and support client meetings in-person and remotely
- Develop client relationships to position POWER/WSP for future work
- Department Manager Support
- Support resource planning for current and upcoming projects
- Participate in hiring processes
- Contribute to business improvement initiatives
- Address personnel conflicts and performance issues constructively
- Assist in business planning and budgeting
Required Education/Experience:
- Professional Engineering licensure (PE)
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering
- Strong command of English language skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Minimum 10 years in overhead High Voltage and EHV transmission line design, including route selection, structure design, and bid package development
- Proficiency in PLS-CADD
- Experience managing projects and leading multidisciplinary teams
Preferred Education/Experience:
- Electric utility industry experience
- Experience with POLE, TOWER, and FAD software packages
- Cost estimating and scheduling skills
