Job summary

Information Systems Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Senior-level Network Engineer to support NIWC Pacific with engineering and day-to-day operations for physical CTB networks.

Responsibilities include installation, STIG compliance, performance enhancements, and security of routers, switches, and related infrastructure. The role focuses on network monitoring (inMON, Zabbix), on-call after-hours support, and on-site availability within two hours of notification.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
• 10+ years of relevant experience; senior-level role with independent and collaborative responsibilities.
• Certifications: one of the IAT Level II options (Security+ CE, CySA+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP) and one of CCNA, CCNP, or CCDP.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering and day-to-day operational support for the physical CTB network environment, including hardware/software installation, firmware upgrades, STIG compliance, and performance enhancements for routers and switches.
• Monitor and analyze network performance at physical and IP packet levels using enterprise tools (inMON, Zabbix).
• Provide on-call after-hours support; be on-site within two hours of notification.
• Establish connectivity to multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure) through IP space, VLANs, and VPCs.
• Create and maintain network test environments, review test cases, execute tests, and report results.
• Maintain corrective action system to track issues and coordinate with vendors for fixes.
• Prototype, install, and maintain hardware configurations for routing, NAT, and firewall (Aruba, Palo Alto).
• Configure and troubleshoot OSPF, BGP, and IPsec for secure routing and tunnels.
• Implement and manage NAC systems; support Zero-Trust architectures and 802.1x.

Description

Information Systems Solutions (ISS) is seeking a Senior-level Network Engineer to support the Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC Pacific) by providing engineering and day-to-day operational support for physical Combined Test Bed (CTB) network environments. The Network Engineer is responsible for the integration, analysis, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and security of network devices and services. This role requires a strong understanding of network architecture, routing, switching, cloud connectivity, and network management tools to monitor and analyze network performance at the physical and IP packet levels.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive engineering and day-to-day operational support for the physical CTB network environment, including hardware/software installation, firmware upgrades, STIG compliance, and performance enhancements for network routers and switches.
• Monitor and analyze network performance at both the physical and Internet Protocol (IP) packet levels utilizing enterprise network management tools, to include inMON Traffic Sentinel and Zabbix.
• Provide on-call support to respond to and resolve network outages during non-business hours (after-hours, weekends, or holidays), with a requirement to be on-site within two (2) hours of notification.
• Establish and maintain robust connectivity to multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure0 by managing IP space, VLANs, route tables, Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), and virtual gateways.
• Establish network infrastructure test environments, conduct test case reviews and assessments, execute tests, and report results.
• Establish and maintain a corrective action system to record and track identified problems, coordinate with vendors to resolve issues found during testing, and conduct regression tests to verify corrections.
• Prototype, install, and maintain configurations of hardware infrastructure for routing and distribution, as well as Firewall and Boundary routing, with a focus on systems including HPE Aruba and Palo Alto.
• Configure, manage, and troubleshoot internal and external routing protocols (such as Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) and Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)) and secure tunneling mechanisms (such as Internet Protocol Security (IPsec)).
• Implement and manage Network Access Control (NAC) systems and security protocols, including Aruba ClearPass Policy Manager, 802.1x Authentication, and Zero-Trust architectures such as dynamic segmentation.
