Qualifications

• Experience with tool path verification or collision detection software such as Vericut is required before use on 5 axis centers.
• Ability to communicate program changes clearly if a shift change occurs.

Responsibilities

• Assembles or fabricates all part setups and operates machine tools to fabricate parts per Engineering drawings or sketches.
• Verifies conformance of work pieces to specifications using calipers, micrometers and inspection tools.
• Generates complete CNC machine documentation and inputs part data from drawings to produce finished hardware.
• Maintains shop safety and keeps work area clean; reports safety issues promptly.

Successful candidate is responsible for the activities in the Machine Shop, consisting of a variety of tasks of considerable complexity which require the manufacture of parts and components to extremely close tolerances.

Job Requirements

• Looking for minimum of 10 yrs of CNC machine programming experience on mills, lathes or mill turning equipment (Mazak, Haas, Fadal, Yasnac, Fanuc, Agie Charmilles, Micron).
• Knowledge and experience using tool path verification software or tool collision detection software such as Vericut. It is required before use on 5 axis machine centers.
• Should you become ill or unexpectedly absent it is expected that your program code communicates clearly the optional stop or hard stops such that part handoff to another person is possible.
• Assembles or fabricates all part set-ups and operates all machine tools to fabricate parts per Engineering drawings or sketches.
• Applies knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, machinability of materials, machine shop procedures, and has good knowledge in the use of edge finders, indicators, etc.
• Studies specifications, such as blueprints and sketches to determine dimensions and tolerances of piece to be machined, sequence of operations, tooling and materials and machines required. Establish most efficient machining procedure to build the hardware.
• Verifies conformance of work piece to specification prior to turning in work, using calipers, micrometers, and various other inspection equipment.
• Uses hand tools to assemble parts when necessary.
• Generates complete CNC machine documentation. Inputs part data into machine tool computers from Engineering drawings and sketches to produce finished hardware.
• Exercising shop safety and shop processes such as keeping work area clean and reporting safety issues are required.

Job Preferences

• Mastercam CAM programming knowledge is desired.
• Knowledge of regular maintenance and scheduled maintenance of some CNC machines, presses, punch, EDM, autoclaves, spray booth, manual machines desired.
• Certificates of training obtained for software, controllers, or from Original Equipment Manufacturers is desired.
• Knowledge of and experience using part tracking software such as Acumatica, Katana, JobBoss or Epicor is desired.
