About the Applied Science Team at Relativity

Relativity is heavily invested in developing new AI products and features for our customers. Our AI organization spans many teams and functions across Relativity Engineering, including data engineering, machine learning operations, LLM engineering specialists, product-focused feature teams, and our applied science team.

The applied science team operates at the very center of Relativity’s AI development. Our diverse team of specialists has advanced postgraduate training and experience in building and developing models, with collective decades of experience managing impactful models at large scales of data and computational complexity.

About the Senior Legal Data Intelligence Lead Role

The Senior Legal Data Intelligence Lead is the applied science team’s key industry subject matter expert. You will report directly to the head of Applied Science at Relativity, applying your skills and knowledge to every project. You’ll bring expertise in litigation and discovery to help us evaluate our key generative AI capabilities. You will serve as the primary interface to litigators, explaining our technology, gathering feedback, and conveying their needs to our applied science team.

Job Description and Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Work externally with clients and industry to explain how our generative AI systems work and gather feedback on their performance in analyzing, classifying documents, identifying protected information, and knowledge extraction.
  • Work internally with applied scientists, product managers, designers, engineers, and customer enablement teams to provide feedback on the enablement, performance, usability, and functionality of our AI solutions.
  • Contribute to Relativity's applied science strategy by leveraging your expertise to design, build, and improve tests, benchmarks, and evaluation systems for our AI solutions.

Qualifications

  • A Juris Doctorate and 5 years of legal practice experience as a litigator or equivalent experience in legal services or legal technology.
  • Hands-on experience with Relativity in various workflows, including traditional EDRM and broader Legal Data Intelligence use cases.
  • Strong communication skills, able to synthesize and convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Deep interest in using generative AI to responsibly advance law practice and access to justice.
  • Understanding of TAR, statistical validation, and advanced document review techniques.

Relativity is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The position offers a total compensation package including a base salary, performance bonus, and long-term incentives. The salary range is $154,000 to $232,000, with the final offer based on experience, skills, and internal pay equity. Salary at the top end is uncommon to allow for future growth.
