Senior Legal Counsel, Litigation and Claims

Your day at NTT DATA

This role is part of our NTT Global Data Centers Legal team and supports the head of the global claims and litigation team in advising on and managing claims and disputes globally of NTT Data’s Global Data Centers division. The role also offers the opportunity to work on other commercial legal matters, particularly the drafting, reviewing, and negotiation of procurement and supplier agreements. The position is within the Global Procurement, Litigation and Claims Management legal team, with the possibility to work fully remote.

What you'll be doing

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Managing disputes and claims globally, with support from external legal counsel as needed.
  • Handling pre-litigation activities, including legal advice, engagement with business partners, managing disclosures, evidence collection, and risk mitigation.
  • Drafting dispute-related documentation such as notices of claim, settlement agreements, and cease-and-desist letters.
  • Reviewing reports from external counsel and advising internal stakeholders.
  • Tracking litigation progress, drafting legal memos, and keeping management informed.
  • Supporting insurer claims notifications.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to develop actions that address lessons learned and reduce litigation risks.
  • Summarizing legal facts to assist in business and legal decision-making.
  • Managing external counsel, including selecting counsel and monitoring budgets.
  • Conducting legal training and preparing internal guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Qualified lawyer in US/UK/EU/APAC.
  • Minimum 10 years of post-qualification experience in commercial litigation, managing complex cases in both common and civil law jurisdictions.
  • Experience working across different jurisdictions, especially EU and US, and managing US claims; experience in construction claims is a plus.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in German or other languages is advantageous.
  • Experience managing dawn raids and internal investigations.
  • Supportive of anti-bribery and white-collar crime cases.
  • Willingness to travel internationally and work remotely with reliable internet and electricity.

Skills:

  • Interest or experience in the data center sector.
  • Strong drafting and dispute resolution skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly to non-legal colleagues.
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced environment and handling complex requirements.
  • Practical approach to legal facts and solutions.

This is a remote position with a monthly stipend for expenses. The base salary ranges from $189,000 to $250,000, plus bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package.
