Job summary

BlueWater Federal Solutions seeks a Senior Legacy Systems Engineer to support the USAF at Maxwell AFB. The role focuses on sustainment, modernization, and integration of legacy IMDS/IMDS-MSM components within enterprise workflows.

Requirements include 10+ years of legacy support, COBOL/Mainframe expertise, a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and an active Secret clearance. Security+ is preferred for additional risk mitigation.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
10+ years of legacy application support and modernization experience.
Active Secret clearance required.
Experience with COBOL, mainframe, batch processing, data synchronization, and SQL/Oracle.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership for sustainment, refactoring, and modernization of legacy IMDS/IMDS-MSM components and workflows.
Support analysis, decomposition, refactoring, and modernization of legacy capabilities while preserving stability and mission-critical operations.
Evaluate modernization candidates, manage sequencing risks, and assist with migration to modern architectures where appropriate.
Perform data integrity validation, modernization risk assessments, and rollback planning during modernization.
