Job summary

Washington County is seeking a Senior Accounting Assistant in the Land Use & Transportation (LUT) department to perform moderately complex accounting duties, maintain cost records, and manage fiscal records. This non-exempt role reports to management and may supervise accounting staff.

Responsibilities include posting journal entries, reconciling ledgers, preparing contract invoices, and supporting audits. Require an associate degree or accounting certificate with relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in accounting, business, or related field.
• Two or more years of work experience related to accounting, bookkeeping, or fiscal management.
• Accounting Certificate (12 months) is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a chart of accounts; audits ledgers, registers, and journals; creates journal vouchers.
• Prepares, reviews, posts journal entries; reconciles general ledger balances.
• Prepares invoices for contracts; records contract payments; records expenditure transactions.
• Coordinates input to Cost Accounting System; assists with financial reports and audits.
