Job summary

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) seeks a skilled accounting professional to manage the accounting and financial reporting for leases (lessor and lessee) and subscription-based IT arrangements. Responsibilities include journal entries, transaction analysis, and footnote disclosures with emphasis on GASB standards.

You will collaborate across procurement, IT, and finance to ensure accurate reporting, assist with annual financial statements and audits, and support internal controls

Qualifications

• Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Experience with monthly general ledger closing and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint with macros and pivot tables.

Responsibilities

• Review reports and prepare monthly journal entries on leases and IT arrangements (GASB 87, GASB 96, GASB 94).
• Coordinate with procurement, IT, and Real Estate; manage lease accounting data in ERP systems.
• Assist in preparing footnotes and schedules for financial statements and audits.
