Job summary

Pearson seeks a Lead Specialist, Learning Scientist (Clinical) to drive research across cognitive and language domains and lead innovative assessment solutions. The role blends clinical expertise with product strategy, overseeing research plans, data interpretation, and collaboration across Content, Product, and Psychometrics.

Remote work is possible with US offices as options. The ideal candidate has a Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Early Childhood Development, School or Clinical Psychology, or related field.
• 5+ years professional experience in speech and language, literacy, achievement, school or clinical psychology, and/or early childhood.
• Clinical experience administering, interpreting, or working directly with standardized assessments.
• Strong knowledge of test development, measurement principles, research methodology, data analysis, and psychometrics.
• Ability to translate scientific and clinical evidence into strategic recommendations balancing rigor and business needs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead research plans for new product development and portfolio priorities.
• Provide subject-matter expertise and scientific leadership in speech-language pathology, literacy, achievement, and/or early childhood assessment.
• Help define product scope and assessment design to ensure scientifically sound and clinically meaningful solutions.
• Lead and contribute to item development, review, and evaluation.
• Partner with psychometricians to review data and findings; interpret results for product decisions.
• Identify opportunities to responsibly apply AI and emerging technologies to research and product development.
• Provide oversight of assessment materials, including digital interfaces and manuals.
• Support product commercialization and adoption with scientific and clinical input for training and materials.
• Represent Pearson in scientific leadership roles through publications and conferences.
