Job summary

Midwest Drywall in Wichita, KS seeks a Training & Development Manager to build and lead practical learning programs for field and office teams. You will own onboarding, the Midwest Academy/apprenticeship, and leadership development, partnering with Operations, Safety, and People Operations to boost productivity, retention, and internal mobility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HRD/OD/ADU/Business/Construction management or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive training, talent development, or workforce development experience, including at least 3 years leading programs or projects.
• Experience in commercial construction, drywall or related field is strongly preferred; experience with apprenticeship and multi-location programs is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a companywide learning strategy and annual training plan aligned with business priorities, safety, productivity, and retention.
• Own orientation and onboarding content for field and office employees, including 30/60/90-day learning plans and measures of time-to-productivity.
• Lead and improve the Midwest Academy/apprenticeship program, including curriculum, mentors, and documentation.
• Design and deliver employee, leadership, and soft-skills development covering communication, coaching, feedback, accountability, and teamwork.
• Build on-the-job training pathways, competency checklists, and train-the-trainer resources for key roles; coordinate shadowing and proficiency validation.
• Develop foundational computer/systems training (Microsoft 365, company apps, digital communication).
• Establish mentorship, cross-training, and knowledge-transfer programs to support internal mobility and succession.
• Facilitate instructor-led, virtual, and blended learning; manage vendors, learning systems, calendars, and training records.
• Evaluate training effectiveness using feedback, assessments, and performance metrics; drive improvements across programs and safety culture.
• Follow company policies, safety requirements, and applicable laws; perform other duties as assigned.
