Job summary

International Flavors and Fragrances (IFF) seeks a Senior Lead Scientist in Biochemistry and Analytical Chemistry to drive enzyme discovery and development for the Grain business. You will guide multidisciplinary programs, mentor scientists, and apply LC-MS/MS, HPLC/UPLC, GC-MS, UV-Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy to advance industrial biocatalysis.

This role demands scientific leadership, collaboration across engineering and bioinformatics teams, and a track record of publications or patents.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field.
10+ years in industrial and/or postdoctoral biochemistry/enzymology experience.
Demonstrated expertise in enzyme characterization and analytical chemistry.
Strong data analysis and experience with advanced analytical techniques.

Responsibilities

Lead enzyme discovery and development programs for the Grain business.
Develop and interpret kinetic/thermodynamic models to guide engineering priorities.
Assess enzyme interactions with complex industrial substrates and matrices.
Develop and validate biochemical, enzymatic, and analytical assays including high-throughput workflows.
Lead implementation and interpretation of LC-MS/MS, LC, GC, and spectroscopic methods.
Integrate datasets to identify bottlenecks and actionable insights.
Mentor scientists and collaboration across protein/microbial engineering, fermentation, and bioinformatics teams.
